door to door religion

I awoke on saturday to a knocking on my door.  ten in the morn, yes I was still in bed having been carousing the night before.  I peered out the window to see to people in suits, they didn't look like FBI so i figured they were trying to sell me something or get a petition signed, so I ignored them.  Well, they were trying to sell something, their religion as noted by the booklet falling to the floor as I opened the door.  I briefly glanced over the paper  which asked if I was confused, scared, lonely, searching, and in need of direction, it also talked of ending times, wars, famine and all that other jazz so looming in the future.  This particular group claimed they had the answers, of course being their version of god.

I was feeling particularly optimistic that morn, and was not converted on the spot as might have been had they contacted me on an off day, but having an ample supply of cereal that morning, I felt God had been good to me and maybe any impending nasty fate might wait for another day.  But I did wonder, does anyone ever get converted by this process?  I mean they must have some luck somewhere.  Why else would these people do it?  You know back in the day you used to hear about door to door saleman selling vacuums, encyclopedias, or other trinkits, which means back then someone must have bought them, but now you don't here about that at all, which leads me to conclude that, no one is buying from the smiling door to door salesman anymore.  Yet these folk are still around, so someone must be buying what they sell.  Since one's spiritual convictions are the strongest of beliefs on has, you would think the majority of people would be hard to change in their beliefs.  So who does change?

I assume those way down on their luck, ready to give up, or those just not that bright,  Searching for someone to help them out of the pile o doo doo they are in, then just at the last moment here comes two beacons of light in suits.  This all leads me to conclude this.......................

These folk of God get their converts from preying on the weak, which I guess is natural, all predators in the wild do it, but they have to ask themselves, if your that desparate for convicts, don't you want people of substance, with some conviction and ability to reason for themselves, or do you want to fill your pews, late night prayer sessions, and bake sales with the down on your luck types.  If you ask me, if I'm going to sway others to believe my stuff, I would want the stronger types, guess I don't get this whole "testify brother" stuff, .......oh well, back to my Godless cereal I guess
