It's a Bird, It's a Plane
What was supposed to be a fun surprise turned into a terrifying life-or-death situation for one man.
A 64-year-old manager was given the gift of flight -- a.k.a. a chance to be a passenger in a military fighter jet -- by one of his colleagues, as reported by BuzzFeed News. Although the man wasn't particularly interested in this experience, he accepted out of not wanting to come off as rude.
What happened next can only be described as like a scene from a movie -- except it wasn't -- this was real life.
After achieving the designated altitude, the pilot, a French veteran with over 2,000 hours of flight time experience, leveled off the plane. This process created what is referred to as a negative gravitational load factor, which can make one feel like they are upside down. And, here's where things took a turn.
In an effort to brace himself from the upside down feeling, the man accidentally grabbed the ejector handle and activated it, flinging himself into the air.
Luckily, the man's parachute deployed and he landed in a field. His injuries were minor, though they did require a trip to the hospital.
