Woman Glitter Bombs Police Car
Just when you think a suspect is all out of surprises... they whip out the glitter.
The Press Democrat reports that Aura Palma, who is homeless, decided to use the five finger discount at a California rental company -- stealing an open bed utility trailer by hitching it up to a pickup truck and driving off with it on Wednesday.
The owner of the Santa Rosa facility watched the theft happen and, instead of stopping it, picked up the phone to call police and have them handle it.
Eventually, after eking out a decent head start, authorities located the truck and stolen trailer on Highway 101. However, Palma was not willing to go in quietly and punched the gas, causing the truck to shoot off at 80 mph.
She drove the truck so roughly, pieces of it began falling off in chunks onto the highway. The trailer also shed some cargo and debris -- so, overall, a very thrilling chase for responding officers.
However, all good things must come to an end, and the cargo dolly fell off the pick-up and became lodged beneath the trailer, forcing Palma to come to a halt.
Well, the 42-year-old homeless woman had one final trick up her sleeve in a bid for freedom. She had a cordless blower packed full of glitter just waiting to go.
As police went to take Palma in, she whipped out the blower and covered the officers, their vehicle, and the southern side of the highway with pixie dust.
Satisfied, she was taken into custody and was booked on several felony charges, such as reckless evading and, obviously, for stealing a vehicle.
As for the responding officers, chances are their uniforms and cruisers will be shedding flakes of fabulousness for a good long while.
